Retiring to a Mosque for Remembrance of Allah (I'tikaf) - 29th Ramadan 1430
(19th September 2009)
Narrated Ali bin Al-Husain (Radi-Allahu 'anhum):
Safiya, the wife of the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) told me that
she went to Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) to visit him in
the mosque while he was in Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. She had
a talk with him for a while, then she got up in order to return home. The
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) accompanied her. When they reached
the gate of the mosque, opposite the door of Um-Salama, two Ansari men were
passing by and they greeted Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam).
He told them: Do not run away! And said, "She is (my wife) Safiya bint
Huyai." Both of them said, "Subhan Allah, (How dare we think of any evil) O
Allah's Apostle!" And they felt it. The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa
Sallam) said (to them), "Satan reaches everywhere in the human body as
blood reaches in it, (everywhere in one's body). I was afraid lest Satan
might insert an evil thought in your minds."

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to practice Itikaf (in
the mosque) in the middle third of Ramadan and after passing the twenty
nights he used to go back to his house on the 21st, and the people who were
in Itikaf with him also used to go back to their houses. Once in Ramadan,
in which he practiced Itikaf, he established the night prayers at the night
in which he used to return home, and then he addressed the people and
ordered them whatever Allah wished him to order and said, "I used to
practice Itikaf for these ten days (i.e. the middle 3rd but now I intend to
stay in Itikaf for the last ten days (of the month); so whoever was in
Itikaf with me should stay at his place of seclusion. I have verily been
shown (the date of) this Night (of Qadr) but I have forgotten it. So search
for it in the odd nights of the last ten days (of this month). I also saw
myself (in the dream) prostrating in mud and water." On the night of the
21st, the sky was covered with clouds and it rained, and the rain-water
started leaking through the roof of the mosque at the praying place of the
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam). I saw with my own eyes the Prophet
(Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) at the completion of the morning prayer
leaving with his face covered with mud and water.

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) made a bond of brotherhood
between Salman and Abu Ad-Darda.' Salman paid a visit to Abu Ad-Darda' and
found Um Ad-Darda' dressed in shabby clothes and asked her why she was in
that state. She replied, "Your brother Abu Ad-Darda' is not interested in
(the luxuries of) this world." In the meantime Abu Ad-Darda' came and
prepared a meal for Salman. Salman requested Abu Ad-Darda' to eat (with
him), but Abu Ad-Darda' said, "I am fasting." Salman said, "I am not going
to eat unless you eat." So, Abu Ad-Darda' ate(with Salman). When it was
night and (a part of the night passed), Abu Ad-Darda' got up (to offer the
night prayer), but Salman told him to sleep and Abu Ad-Darda' slept. After
sometime Abu Ad-Darda' again got up but Salman told him to sleep. When it
was the last hours of the night, Salman told him to get up then, and both
of them offered the prayer. Salman told Abu Ad-Darda', "Your Lord has a
right on you, your soul has a right on you, and your family has a right on
you; so you should give the rights of all those who has a right on you."
Abu Ad-Darda' came to the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) and
narrated the whole story. The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said,
"Salman has spoken the truth."

Tazkirah Ramadan Nuzul Quran: Read Quran, The Last Testament
Petikan dr buku Dasar-Dasar Islam – Abul A’la Al Maududi
Al-A’raf 7:204

Tazkirah Ramadan: Sedekah berbuka pahalanya besar

The month of Ramadan does sound like it is a sombre month, it is also a celebration of many things. flippin' for murtabak
Observed by Muslims throughout the world, Ramadan is when Muslims abstain from eating, drinking and indulging in excessive or ill-natured conduct, from dawn to dusk. It teaches one patience, perseverance and reflections of spirituality.
The Ramadan month, too, brings with it much flavours.
In Malaysia, Ramadan is greeted with a riot of colourful and tasty foods.
Every state in Malaysia will have several designated places where stalls selling various delicacies and drinks for buka puasa (breaking of fast). These sites are commonly known as Bazaar Ramadan.
Spoilt for choice, visitors to the Bazaar will be surprised at the wide variety of foods on offer. Try these mouth-watering dishes
Usually, stalls open as early as 4 pm, when sellers start bringing in their wares. There are stalls selling fruits, drinks, foods and it will be a hive of activity with sellers arranging their foods, some grilling fish, with the smoke blowing gently in your eyes.

Sometimes, especially on a hungry stomach (!) it is difficult to make choices of what to eat and drink for buka puasa. One wants to buy everything. It is such a great temptation with so much wonderful foods!
The best part about Bazaar Ramadan is everyone takes the time to see the sights and breathe in the delicious, tempting smells. There are a lot of choices, and most everyone living nearby a Bazaar Ramadan takes the opportunity to visit the place.

Zaid bin Thabit said, "We took the Suhur with the Prophet (Sallallahu

Narrated Al-Bara (Radi-Allahu 'anhum):
It was the custom among the companions of Muhammad (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa
Sallam) that if any of them was fasting and the food was presented (for
breaking his fast), but he slept before eating, he would not eat that night
and the following day till sunset.
Qais bin Sirma-al-Ansari was fasting and came to his wife at the time of
Iftar (breaking one's fast) and asked her whether she had anything to eat.
She replied, "No, but I would go and bring some for you." He used to do
hard work during the day, so he was overwhelmed by sleep and slept. When
his wife came and saw him, she said, "Disappointment for you." When it was
midday on the following day, he fainted and the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi
Wa Sallam) was informed about the whole matter and the following verses
were revealed: "You are permitted To go to your wives (for sexual relation)
At the night of fasting." So, they were overjoyed by it. And then Allah
also revealed: "And eat and drink Until the white thread Of dawn appears to
you Distinct from the black thread (of the night)." (2.187)
