Daily Hadith Day 29: Retiring to a Mosque for Remembrance of Allah (I'tikaf) 29th Ramadan 1430 (19th September 2009)

Retiring to a Mosque for Remembrance of Allah (I'tikaf) - 29th Ramadan 1430
(19th September 2009)

Narrated Ali bin Al-Husain (Radi-Allahu 'anhum):

Safiya, the wife of the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) told me that
she went to Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) to visit him in
the mosque while he was in Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan. She had
a talk with him for a while, then she got up in order to return home. The
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) accompanied her. When they reached
the gate of the mosque, opposite the door of Um-Salama, two Ansari men were
passing by and they greeted Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam).
He told them: Do not run away! And said, "She is (my wife) Safiya bint
Huyai." Both of them said, "Subhan Allah, (How dare we think of any evil) O
Allah's Apostle!" And they felt it. The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa
Sallam) said (to them), "Satan reaches everywhere in the human body as
blood reaches in it, (everywhere in one's body). I was afraid lest Satan
might insert an evil thought in your minds."

Daily Hadith Day 24: Praying at Night (Taraweeh) 24th Ramadan 1430 (14th September 2009)

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (Radi-Allahu 'anhum):

Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) used to practice Itikaf (in
the mosque) in the middle third of Ramadan and after passing the twenty
nights he used to go back to his house on the 21st, and the people who were
in Itikaf with him also used to go back to their houses. Once in Ramadan,
in which he practiced Itikaf, he established the night prayers at the night
in which he used to return home, and then he addressed the people and
ordered them whatever Allah wished him to order and said, "I used to
practice Itikaf for these ten days (i.e. the middle 3rd but now I intend to
stay in Itikaf for the last ten days (of the month); so whoever was in
Itikaf with me should stay at his place of seclusion. I have verily been
shown (the date of) this Night (of Qadr) but I have forgotten it. So search
for it in the odd nights of the last ten days (of this month). I also saw
myself (in the dream) prostrating in mud and water." On the night of the
21st, the sky was covered with clouds and it rained, and the rain-water
started leaking through the roof of the mosque at the praying place of the
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam). I saw with my own eyes the Prophet
(Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) at the completion of the morning prayer
leaving with his face covered with mud and water.

Daily Hadith Day 15: Fasting 15th Ramadan 1430 (5th September 2009)

While we were sitting with the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) a man
came and said, "O Allah's Apostle! I have been ruined." Allah's Apostle
(Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) asked what was the matter with him. He
replied "I had sexual intercourse with my wife while I was fasting."
Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) asked him, "Can you afford
to manumit a slave?" He replied in the negative. Allah's Apostle
(Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) asked him, "Can you fast for two successive
months?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa
Sallam) asked him, "Can you afford to feed sixty poor persons?" He replied
in the negative. The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) kept silent and
while we were in that state, a big basket full of dates was brought to the
Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam). He asked, "Where is the
questioner?" He replied, "I (am here)." The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa
Sallam) said (to him), "Take this (basket of dates) and give it in
charity." The man said, "Should I give it to a person poorer than I? By
Allah; there is no family between its (i.e. Medina's) two mountains who are
poorer than I." The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) smiled till his
pre-molar teeth became visible and then said, 'Feed your family with it."

Tazkirah Ramadan: Sedekah berbuka pahalanya besar

Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhum):

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, "If somebody eats or
drinks forgetfully then he should complete his fast, for what he has eaten
or drunk, has been given to him by Allah." Narrated 'Amir bin Rabi'a, "I
saw the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) cleaning his teeth with
Siwak while he was fasting so many times as I can't count." And narrated
Abu Huraira, "The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) said, 'But for my
fear that it would be hard for my followers, I would have ordered them to
clean their teeth with Siwak on every performance of ablution." The same is
narrated by Jabir and Zaid bin Khalid from the Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi
Wa Sallam) who did not differentiate between a fasting and a nonfasting
person in this respect (using Siwak).

Aisha  (Radi-Allahu 'anha) said, "The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa
Sallam) said, "It (i.e. Siwak) is a purification for the mouth and it is a
way of seeking Allah's pleasures." Ata' and Qatada said, "There is no harm
in swallowing the resultant saliva."
